Synopsis... Tropical Storm Hanna is forecast to continue to the north toward the Carolinas tonight. However...tropical storm force winds are expected over the offshore waters this evening...with mainly frequent gusts to tropical storm force over the nearshore portion. Marine interests should monitor the latest forecasts from the National Hurricane Center on Hanna. Swells associated with Hurricane Ike should begin arriving in the coastal waters by Saturday night and persist through early next week.

Tropical Storm Warning in effect

Tonight... Tropical storm conditions expected. Northwest winds 20 to 30 knots with gusts to 40 knots becoming west 15 to 20 knots after midnight. Seas 9 to 12 feet subsiding to 6 feet after midnight. Inland waters choppy. Numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Saturday... Southwest winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 6 feet subsiding to 3 feet in the afternoon. Inland waters a moderate chop.
Saturday Night... Southwest winds 5 to 10 knots becoming west 5 to 10 knots after midnight. Seas 2 feet. Inland waters smooth.
Sunday... North winds 5 to 10 knots becoming east 5 to 10 knots in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Inland waters mostly smooth. Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Sunday Night... East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 3 feet. Inland waters smooth.
Monday... East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 3 to 4 feet. Inland waters a light chop. Scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Monday Night And Tuesday... East winds 10 knots. Seas 4 feet. Inland waters smooth. Scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Tuesday Night... Northeast winds 10 knots. Seas 4 feet. Inland waters smooth. Scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Wednesday... Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 4 to 5 feet. Inland waters a moderate chop. Scattered showers and thunderstorms.

local mariners should remain in port until winds and seas subside.

... Marine impacts...
Tropical Storm Hanna will continue moving on a north to northwest
path well offshore and parallel to the northeast Florida and
southeast Georgia coasts through tonight. Seas of 8 to 14 feet will
slowly subside as high pressure builds over the area waters in
the wake of Hanna.

Maximum winds for the marine area are 30 to 40 knots... with gusts
as high as 50 knots. Conditions will gradually improve as Hanna
moves well north of the coastal waters.
