Issued by the National Weather Service at 10:16 PM EDT on March 17, 2010


The Flood Warning continues for
the Nashua River at East Pepperell.
* At 9:30 PM Wednesday the estimated stage was 14.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to a stage of 9.4 feet
by Friday morning.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet... flooding is expected in low lying
residential areas along portions of the Nashua River. Follow the
directions provided by your local emergency management officials.
If you are asked to evacuate... do so immediately. Avoid flood prone
locations. Know the alternate routes in your location so you avoid
areas where flood waters may have damaged or closed area roadways.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Assabet River at Maynard.
* At 9:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 6.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
Friday early afternoon.
* Impact... at 6.0 feet... flooding is likely in low lying sections
along the river including portions of Maynard... Hudson and Concord.
Water may approach homes along the river and may force several
localized Road closures.

* until 900 am EDT Thursday

* at 854 PM EDT river levels continue to fall and many small rivers
in eastern Massachusetts have fallen into minor flood. The
exceptions are the Taunton river in Bridgewater which is still in
major flood but has recently crested... and the Ipswich river in
Ipswich which is just shy of major flood and falling slowly.

The Taunton river in Bridgewater will fall into moderate flood
around daybreak Thursday. The Ipswich river in Ipswich will remain
in moderate flood through Thursday.

Rivers in minor flood include

The Parker river in Byfield
the Ipswich river in South Middleton
the shawsheen river in Andover
the Charles River in Waltham
the Nashua River in Clinton
the monatiquot river in East Braintree
the Jones river in Kingston
the Mill River in Taunton

Rivers which have recently fallen below flood stage include the
Charles River in Medway and the Pawcatuck River in Wood River
Junction Rhode Island.

The shawsheen river in Andover and the Jones river in Kingston
should fall below flood stage tonight. The Nashua River in Clinton
and the monatiquot river in East Braintree will fall below flood
stage Thursday morning.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway... including underpasses. The water may be too deep to allow
vehicles to cross safely... or the roadway may be undermined.
